Light is the invisible material of interior design. It has the power to alter the geometry of a room, change the perceived texture of a surface, and dictate the emotional response of everyone who enters.
We rarely rely on a single, overhead light source. A room illuminated by a solitary ceiling fixture feels flat and interrogative. Instead, we approach lighting as a layered composition, carefully balancing three distinct types: ambient, task, and accent.
Ambient Illumination: The Foundation
Ambient light provides the overall glow of a room. It is the baseline. Rather than relying on harsh recessed cans, we prefer to establish ambient light through wall sconces that cast a soft wash across plaster walls, or floor lamps with diffusing linen shades.

By keeping ambient light soft and indirect, the room immediately feels calmer and more inviting. It invites the eye to rest.
